After a concerted campaign by Business NSW, the Minns Government has put workers’ comp reform on the table. But it will take real pressure to turn plans into action.

Business NSW is calling on you to sign our petition and urge your local Member of Parliament (MP) to support fair, sustainable change.

Right now, the workers’ comp scheme is $3.6 billion in the red and bleeding $5 million every day. Since 2021–22, psychological injury claims have jumped 65%, with many linked to workplace disputes rather than genuine injuries. That’s driving up premiums, hurting small and medium businesses, and pulling resources away from workers who truly need support.

The government’s proposed reforms target these problems by tightening claim rules, improving dispute resolution, and encouraging return-to-work programs. However, the reforms remain stalled in NSW Parliament. The Workers Compensation Legislation Amendment Bill has been referred to the Public Accountability and Works Committee in the Upper House.

Business NSW is working with the government to push for changes that protect injured workers and ease the burden on employers.
