MAKE NSW THE START-UP STATE
March 2023
Read MoreBusiness NSW congratulates NSW Labor leader Chris Minns and his party colleagues on their election victory.
NSW Labor’s priorities of spending restraint, toll relief, increasing affordable housing and fixing the state’s workers’ compensation scheme have clearly resonated with NSW voters.
We look forward to working with the Minns Government to nurture the state’s 800,000-plus businesses and ensure NSW remains the powerhouse of the nation’s economy.
Mr Minns comes to office with businesses facing a multitude of challenges including spiralling energy costs, ten consecutive interest rate rises, inflation, industrial relations changes and labour shortages.
Business NSW – which has almost 50,000 members – also anticipates working closely with Daniel Mookhey MLC.
We look forward to building on our strong relationship and trust with Mr Mookhey, as he embarks on promised reforms to payroll tax administration and ensuring no new taxes on business.
Business NSW will continue working with Steve Kamper MP on small business issues, along with the rest of the NSW Labor team.
Business NSW would also like to acknowledge the tireless work of outgoing premier Dominic Perrottet.
The Coalition’s work during the COVID lockdowns – and Mr Perrottet’s drive to immediately open the economy once it was safe to do so – was instrumental in ensuring the survival of hundreds of thousands of businesses.
The business community will be forever thankful for this assistance.
The NSW Nationals’ ongoing support for regional businesses has also been warmly welcomed in communities across the state.
Mr Perrottet is among a rare breed of modern politicians who have the courage to pursue meaningful and difficult reform.
The investment that Mr Perrottet and his government made in infrastructure is a legacy which will bear fruit for generations to come.
His willingness to transform the outdated and costly stamp duty tax demonstrated courage and conviction.
We hope the incoming NSW Labor team shows the same zeal for genuine reform which benefits NSW businesses and communities throughout NSW.
