SIRA held a review of the self-audit process it has put into place for licensed insurers operating within the NSW workers’ compensation scheme. 

Given that “a deteriorating RTW rate has a direct and real impact on the performance and continued viability of the workers compensation scheme” (the Dore Report), coupled with the fact that the Nominal Insurer’s return to work rates continue to be poor and lag behind the scheme as a whole, Business NSW expressed its preference for a rolling program of audits to be conducted by SIRA with the results and remediation steps to be published on a regular basis.
