PREDICTED CHRISTMAS DOWNTURN PROMPTS CALL TO BACK LOCAL BUSINESS THIS CHRISTMAS
December 2023
Read MoreThe state’s peak business organisation, Business NSW, has congratulated Premier Chris Minns and his team on the appointment of the new NSW Cabinet.
Business NSW has enjoyed a strong, open and productive relationship with senior members of the NSW Labor Caucus while in opposition, and these ties will only strengthen as we continue our conversation with the 22 ministers of the first Minns Ministry.
With a trimmed-down ministry having been sworn in today, Business NSW CEO Daniel Hunter said: “Business NSW looks forward to working with the Minns Government on how we can get the best outcomes for the state’s economy and the 800,000-plus businesses that power it”.
“Business NSW’s almost 50,000 members are encouraged by government commitments including payroll tax administration reform (alongside the Federal Government), a pledge to introduce no new taxes on business over the next four years, increasing affordable housing and allowing SMEs to take a greater share of government procurement opportunities,” Mr Hunter said.
“Business NSW has enjoyed positive conversations with the new government on issues including workers’ compensation reform which keeps a lid on premiums, increases to fee-free apprenticeships and traineeships, expansion of our domestic manufacturing capability, and the establishment of a $1.3 billion government-backed venture capital fund. We will continue these discussions.”
Business NSW is committed to working with and on behalf of our members with Premier Chris Minns and the ministries directly impacting business including: Treasurer Daniel Mookhey, Deputy Premier Prue Car, Energy Minister Penny Sharpe, Small Business Minister Steve Kamper, Roads Minister John Graham, Planning Minister Paul Scully, Housing Minister Rose Jackson, Industrial Relations Minster Sophie Cotsis, Finance Minister Courtney Houssos, and Better Regulation Minister Anoulack Chanthivong.
